Dog Shows
Official procedure for awarding the CAJC title
1. Classes eligible for CAJC
CAJC may be awarded only in the following classes:
- Very Young (9–12 months)
- Young (12–18 months)
⚠ The Baby and Puppy classes are NOT eligible for CAJC.
2. Minimum conditions for awarding CAJC
A dog may receive CAJC only if:
✔ it has obtained the grade Excellent 1 in its class
(“…that have obtained the grade of Excellent 1…” – Art. 8)
✔ it belongs to the official WDF list of breeds
(“…belonging to the official list of canine breeds approved by WDF.”)
✔ it is the best specimen of its sex in the Junior / Very Junior class
3. Number of CAJCs awarded per breed
The judge may award:
- 1 CAJC to the best male (from Very Young + Young)
- 1 CAJC to the best female (from Very Young + Young)
Without distinction of varieties.
(E.g.: for breeds with varieties – short/long hair – only one CAJC/sex is awarded for the entire breed.)
4. The concrete awarding procedure in the ring
🔹 Step 1: The judge assesses each dog in the Very Young and Young classes
→ awards the individual grades.
🔹 Step 2: The judge places the dogs graded at least Very Good
→ but CAJC may be awarded only to specimens with Excellent 1.
🔹 Step 3: The final comparison is made between:
- the winner of the Very Young MALE class
- the winner of the Young MALE class
→ the winner of the duel receives CAJC Male.
The same for females.
5. Approval of CAJC by the secretariat
Article 8 clearly provides:
✔ CAJC is approved on the same day by the secretariat
→ before the end of the show
✔ it is recorded in the WDF Qualification Booklet
6. The qualification booklet requirement
If a dog does not have a qualification booklet, even if it is a winner:
❌ it cannot collect CAJC
✔ CAJC is transferred to the next dog placed (with Excellent 2)
7. CAJC is at the judge’s discretion
The regulations specify:
“The awarding of CAJC remains at the discretion and judgment of the expert judge…”
So the judge:
- is not obliged to award CAJC
- even if eligible dogs are present
- if the judge considers that no dog deserves the distinction
8. Conditions for the final “Junior Champion” title
In accordance with Art. 39:
- It is obtained upon the accumulation of 4 CAJC,
- from at least 3 different judges.
